Welcome To Our 7th Grade Chumash Class!!

Dear Parents,

The Year has gotten off to a great start so far in our 7th Grade Chumash Class. We will be studying Chumash Bamidbar, the 4th of the 5 Chumashim, and will be beginning in the first Perek (chapter) and then skipping around a little.

So far, we have completed an introduction to Sefer Bamidbar which has included:
1. Background information about the Sefer
2. The Main Theme of Sefer Bamidbar
3. The different names of the Sefer
4. When Does The Sefer Begin

Additionally, we have completed Pesukim 1-4 of Perek Alef, and learned the translation and shoresh (root) of all of the difficult words. These Pesukim deal with Hashem's commandment to count the Jewish people.

On Monday and Tuesday September 21st-22nd, we will be discussing a Medrash which brings an analogy about a King and his two wives to answer the question: Why does the Torah need to provide so much detail about exactly where and when Hashem commands Moshe to count the Jewish People.

Homework For Wed. Sept. 23rd:
Explain the "Nimshal" of the Story:
1. Who do each of the characters represent
2. Explain the Lesson that the Mashal is teaching us.

Wishing everyone a Shana Tova!
-Rabbi B.
